COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as designers or design paraprofessionals who support professional engineers. They perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others. They are required to develop site specific work designs to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements. They demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills.

The volume of learning for the qualification is 1200 hours. This comprises of:
• Learning Hours – 584 hours
• Assessment – 416 hours
• Self-Study – 200 hours

This course will be delivered over 56 weeks of course duration including 6 weeks holiday breaks. Students are required to attend a minimum 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.

PATHWAYS FROM THE QUALIFICATION

Successful completion may enable the student to apply for RII60520-Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All students are required to meet following requirements in order to be accepted into Australian Engineering College courses

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Students must be above 18 years of age while filling up the application.

ENROLMENT INFORMATION

• A completed application form and signed agreement
• Identification documents, one of which is a photo of the student such as a driver’s license.

English Language Requirements for International students:

i. International students applying for this course either off-shore or on-shore will require either a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course. or IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course. or IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course.

ii. To provide evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States.

iii. To provide evidence that, within two years* of their signed written agreement date, they have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course or a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or a substantial part of a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification, from the Australian Qualifications Framework

iv. Students must successfully score equivalent to IELTS 6 in the Oxford English Placement Test.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

To enter RII50520 – Diploma of Civil Construction Design : applicants should have successfully completed year 12/ Senior Secondary School studies in their home country equivalent to Australian Senior Secondary School Examination (Year 12).

LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY TEST (LLN)

Students undertaking this course must possess sound language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills. To determine these LLND skills, all students who want to study at AEC are required to undertake LLND test prior to the commencement of the course. Based on the test outcome, students may be identified as requiring internal support and/or external support.

LLND test will be conducted on campus by using an ACSF mapped online LLND assessment tool – LLND Robot under the supervision of qualified LLND assessor. All students are required to undertake a language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) test according to the following qualification:

RII50520 – Diploma of Civil Construction Design ACSF Level 4.
